The Cameron Youth Orchestra is a unique organization with a unique mission. We strive to train , develop, and cultivate the musical gifts and talents of African American Youths by promoting and creating opportunities not normally available to them in the field of classical music performance. The Cameron Youth Orchestra Strives to increase awareness and appreciation for Classical Music in the African American Community.
Biography
The Cameron Youth Orchestra named after renowned Violinist and Musicologist, Clarence Cameron White, is a unique group of young talented and musically African American musicians from the St. Louis Metropolitan area. The orchestra was organized by the late Kem Williams in March of 1993 to help encourage and create an environment in which a select group of dedicated young musicians could realistically pursue successful careers in classical music performance.
